Wekk Podcast – Ep 55 – Marvel AND DC

We love both Marvel and DC for different reasons and given that Captain America Civil War has just been released we spent an entire episode talking about what we like about both universes. Do we have favorite characters? Are there characters we long to see in film? Will there ever be a Marvel DC Crossover again? Kevin also goes into a bit of the history behind SHAZAM, which is fascinating, and incredibly relevant given the things happening in comics and movies today.

  1. Great podcast. I love that we can have discussions like Marvel vs DC and it’s not a niche thing. It’s a huge successful influence on the entertainment biz.

The first Hulk movie was not Marvel. The Ed Norton one was a Marvel property, came out same time as Iron Man. The disconnect with making more Hulk movies wasn’t with the Hulk, but it was with Norton, which is why Ruffalo is the guy in the Avengers movies and moving forward.

It’ll be interesting to see what DC does with the new writers in charge.

I think Demon is too off-the-beaten-path to carry a movie, but that’s just me. (I think the same thing about Aquaman.)

    1. That is such interesting history about the Hulk franchise. Thanks for the details, Nick. The DC universe seems to be in flux, so it will be very interesting to see where it lands. Very curious to see how the Aquaman movie turns out and hoping for the best. Btw, we heard your podcast with Tee and Pip on con panels and were excited to hear you may start your own podcast. Keep us posted. We’ll subscribe, listen, and review! Good luck getting it off the ground! And as always, thanks for listening.
